This day is also known as Ganesh Chaturthi. This day is celebrated as the birth day of Lord Ganesha and welcoming him to home by doing all puja, fasting and offerings. This day usually falls in September-October. According Hindu calander it falls on fourth day of luni-solar in the month of Bhadrapada (Bhadraba). It is believed that Ganesha should be worshiped first before any God or Goddess. He is symbol for Intellectuality so this occasion is for students. They pray for vidya. This occasion is celebrated all over the country with a great passion. It is observed for 10 days. After 10 days people take idols and put in water like river or ocean so that will be dissolve and Ganesha returns to Himalaya to his father and mother. People do puja, give Puspanjali and offerings like sweet and modak. It observed in home and publicly also by making pandals and all.
