The word Akhaya( ଅକ୍ଷୟ ) unfading or “no end” while Trutiya( ତୃତୀୟା) means “third”. Akhaya Trutiya falls on the third lunar day Vaishakha month. so the name of this festival is like this. This day is very auspecious to everyone. And many people believe that if they start any work on this day then it will bring good luck for them. In Odisha, It is the day when the cart construction of lord Shree Jagarnnath starts. From this day 3 carts are being prepared for Rath yatra in Puri. so this day means alot for Odia people.
